Mrs. Honey was Jennifer Honey's mother, Dr. Magnus Honey's wife, Miss Trunchbull's stepsister and adoptive grandmother of Matilda Wormwood. She died when Miss Honey was only two years old. It’s not revealed in the novel or the film how she died. In the musical it's revealed that Mrs. Honey died from her injuries in a circus accident. The only time she is mentioned in both the novel and film.

Mrs Honey starts the week with a hat covered in flowers, cherries and feathers and as the week progresses the items are gradually taken and replaced; the cat takes a ribbon and replaces it with fish bones, the cow eats the buttercups and replaces them with a bell, the spider takes the lace and replaces it with cobwebs and so on.
